On Wednesday, October 28, 2009 the Saugatuck Township Board of Supervisors and Planning Commissioners will consider a new zoning ordinance proposed by the Singapore Dunes LLC, owners of the former Denison property. The ordinance, known as a Zoning Text Amendment Ordinance, would impact properties along the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan throughout the Township.
The proposed ordinance would affect Township zoning by allowing development not currently permitted. The proposed text changes would allow commercial development (marinas, restaurants, hotels and retail), significantly higher density of residences (townhouses, condos, multiplexes) and the construction of piers, wharves and docks.
